Jewelry Care Tips

All of the jewelry at Displaced Texan Gift Shop is meant for daily love and daily wear.  Please follow these tips to extend the life of your jewelry.

  • Remove jewelry before showering, swimming, and exercising.
  • Remove your jewelry before sleeping to avoid tangling and possible damage (I am the biggest hypocrite on this one...).
  • Avoid direct contact with lotion, sunscreen, self-tanner, perfume, and cleaning products if possible.
  • Store your jewelry in a dry place when not wearing it.
  • Gently wipe your jewelry with a cloth to remove oils and residue.
  • If the jewelry becomes tangled or snags, please be gentle when untangling as pulling too hard can cause broken parts.

As every person is different and uses different products while one person can wear something for years with minimal effect while someone else can have noticeable wear sooner.  As example, my daughter and I have the same bracelet that we were gifted four years ago.  Mine is still in good shape.  The string on hers broke almost three years ago.

As each item is handmade and parts of the jewelry can break, please reach out if something happens such as a broken clasp or broken jump ring.  If a string breaks or necklace comes undone, let us know.  We will see what we can do to help or fix the situation as best we can.

Please note: Normal wear, fading, and natural variations in beads and materials are not considered manufacturing defects.
